Private Letting is Illegal
Hi all,
I’ve been made aware of an issue regarding private letting.
Spanish Lettings law states ALL lettings at resorts must go through the sole Lettings Agent, which in our case is Wimpen.
If you rent your week(s) out privately, and the Touristic Police catch you, you could be subject to a hefty fine. Just for clarity this also applies to Timeshare rentals.
Please also note private rentals/renters are not covered by the resort’s insurance , and as one owner discovered to his cost, liability rests with the owner
Apparently some owners in Lanzarote have been caught out, and it’s proved extremely expensive to them. Please be aware any fine is to the individual rather than to the resort.
You can still allow relatives/friends use your unwanted week(s) for ‘free’, if you do so, please make sure reception are made aware up front so that they are covered via the insurance.
If you do wish to let your weeks various letting options are available via wimpen. To avoid any potential problems I would recommend this route.
